Alcohol Prevention Lock for Commercial Vehicle from Sober Steering

Biosensors – installed in steering wheel – analyze gases from the skin to detect alcohol molecules

Sober Steering has developed what it bills as “the world’s only touch based alcohol interlock to prevent drunk driving.”

The Sober Steering system is currently being used in school buses in Ontario, Canada.

The company made its U.S. debut recently at the Governor’s Highway Safety Association’s 2015 Annual Conference.

Highlights of the product include:

  • World’s only touch based alcohol interlock to prevent drunk driving
  • Biosensors – installed in steering wheel – analyze gases from the skin to detect alcohol molecules

The company notes that it is now expanding into other fleets (coaches, construction, hazmat, transport), then targeting teen drivers in passenger vehicles.
