Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier has announced that Con-way Freight Driver Sales Representatives Antonio Vargas, Greg Grigsby and Larry Painter have reached 1, 2 and 3 million consecutive, accident-free miles, respectively.

Over its 30-year history, Con-way Freight has honored nearly 1,700 of its drivers who have achieved 1 million safe driving miles, with 245 surpassing 2 million safe driving miles.

Larry Painter becomes the sixth driver to join the exclusive 3 million mile distinguished driver club.

“Actions speak louder than words and there can be no better testament to our commitment to safety than the exemplary driving records of these outstanding professionals,” said Greg Lehmkuhl, president of Con-way Freight.

To put their accomplishments into perspective, 1 million miles is the equivalent of driving from Fresno to New York City, round trip, 169 times.

Con-wayTwo million miles is equal to four round trips to the moon and 3 million miles is equivalent to 120 trips around the circumference of the Earth.

“I think I speak for all of us when I say safety is the most important part of the job,” said Larry Painter, a 30-year veteran and 3 million mile distinguished driver for Con-way Freight. “Our success as professionals is not about records and personal achievements. It’s about the attitude we bring to work every day, all the little things we do to stay safe because of the responsibility we have operating an 80,000-pound vehicle.”
