Prestigious certification reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to employee development and work environment

DHL, the world’s leading international express services provider, has been officially recognized by the Top Employers Institute as a Global Top Employer in the United States for 2019. For a fifth consecutive year, DHL has received the Top Employer accolade in the U.S., which recognizes the company’s dedication to providing the very best employee development and work environment.

Every year, the Top Employers Institute conducts a global Human Resources Best Practices Survey and reviews company programs in talent strategy, workforce planning, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, leadership development, career and succession planning, compensation and benefits, and culture. Top Employers evaluates the implementation of these HR practices and reviews how they are strategically developed, thoughtfully measured and supported through technology.

“Our employees are our greatest asset and the most essential component to our business,” said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S. “We constantly aspire to unlock their full potential and provide them with a collaborative environment and the tools they need to succeed. Serving customers always starts with passionate, motivated people, and are goal is to best position them for a rewarding, long-term career at DHL.”

DHL offers employees advancement opportunities, learning and development programs, and an engaging, social environment that results in long-term satisfaction and commitment to the company. All newly hired employees go through a unique DHL Express Certified International Specialist (CIS) training program, which provides an introduction to the company and the industry, as well as other valuable learnings to help them excel in their roles. In addition, all employees worldwide have easy access to various types of specialized training and support for continued education that can help further their careers.

One of many ways that DHL is helping employees work well together across different countries and cultures is through its fun-filled DHL Americas Cup. The four-day event welcomes more than 1,400 employees from the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Caribbean to take part in a soccer tournament and cheerleading competition. This year, the DHL Americas Cup will return to Orlando, Florida in April. The companywide event promotes team building, friendly competition and camaraderie.

In addition, DHL engages employees in environmentally-friendly volunteer opportunities, such as tree plantings in support of the company’s global One Million Trees per Year initiative. The company’s ambitious Zero Emissions initiative aims to eradicate production of all logistics-related emissions throughout its entire organization by 2050.

“We believe DHL demonstrates exceptional employee programs and puts their employees first. They are enriching their workforce by providing outstanding experiences, which easily earns them a spot on our list,” said David Plink, CEO of Top Employer Institute.
