Omnitracs, a global pioneer of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, has announced the launch of its integrated Routing, Dispatching and Compliance (RDC) solution.

RDC seamlessly combines routing, dispatching, trip management, proof of delivery, Hours of Service and Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) compliance. This offering, which brings together the best of Omnitracs’ Roadnet Anywhere and XRS solutions, is available on mobile devices for drivers and through a single management portal to fleet operators.

The solution addresses a challenge that distributors face when managing their transportation assets. Typically, companies rely on multiple, unintegrated systems to handle routing, driver performance management, mobile delivery management, and compliance. RDC seamlessly integrates these capabilities, thereby improving ease of use for the driver while simplifying data management and reporting for fleet management operators.

OmnitracsRDC provides fleets with real-time information about routing efficiency, tracking, safety and compliance. Features include route planning/optimization, telematics to monitor driver and vehicle behaviors, a driver mobile platform that includes electronics logs, trip management and proof of delivery. It also includes a web-based management platform that has dispatching, Hours of Service and DVIR compliance, and comprehensive driver score carding.

“Many fleets find it very difficult to effectively balance needs around route efficiency, driver safety and compliance, and customer service,” said Kevin Haugh, chief strategy and product officer at Omnitracs. “In fact, fleets can easily be pursuing actions that are at cross purposes. For example, developing route plans that fail to fully account for potential negative compliance effects — such as creating hours of services issues. With RDC, managers and drivers can easily balance their business needs by having a comprehensive perspective on all aspects and the ability to quickly make adjustments as needed.” For example, a driver that encounters congestion and is running behind schedule might be dynamically rerouted to avert potential hours of service issues.

In addition to streamlining visibility and agility both inside and outside of the cab, benefits of RDC include: Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate compliance, reduced costs and fleet miles through efficient route planning, reduced time through simplified reporting and data review, increased accuracy and the flexibility to adapt to customer needs and route changes.
