24-7 Van Lines Upgrades Fleet to Bio-Diesel Engines
A Los Angeles-based mover, 24-7 Van Lines, has announced that its entire fleet has been upgraded to bio-diesel engines, a step designed to deliver greater energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
According to the company, the engines burn cleaner than standard diesel engines and also increase the mile-per-gallon ratio, thus reducing the cost of moving—a savings that is passed onto the commercial and residential customers of the company.
The stakes are high.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency notes that emissions from transportation vehicles amounted to an estimated 28% of all greenhouse gases emitted in the nation in 2011.
With newer laws being enacted nationwide designed to curb emissions, and with some being implemented by individual states already, trucks in the moving sector and in other industries will soon have to conform to newer and more stringent standards.
