In what was billed as “The Fight of the Century” and drew an undisputed A-list of celebrities on Saturday night in Las Vegas to watch what undoubtedly will be considered A-listless championship bout between unbeaten Floyd (“Money”) Mayweather and Manny (“Packman”) Pacquiao, one outcome was clear to this publication.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather not only remained unbeaten for his 48th consecutive pro fight, he also took home the 2015 Fleet News Daily “Fleet Feet of the Year Award.”

Say what you will about Mayweather, at age 39 he looked unbelievable, and certainly to Pacquiao, unhittable.Floyd Mayweather

Floyd was simultaneously buff, nimble, strong, plotting, savvy and cleverly calculated. He did all he need to for the victory and the outcome was never really in doubt.

In the final analysis, it wasn’t about power and it wasn’t about persistence. It was all about those fleet feet of Floyd and his unmatched ring generalship.

There will be no clamoring for a rematch, no cries of a stolen outcome. And while “the sweet science” of pugilism may have fallen a bit short of expectations, on other fronts it was indeed a record day for Money.

So well done Floyd.   We’ve got your trophy when you’re ready to add it to your illustrious collection.
