Crosspoint Kinetics Voucher Program for New York and Chicago Gains Speed
Crosspoint Kinetics, a leader in developing bolt-on solutions principally for delivery vans and trucks that measurably conserve, capture and reuse energy, has reported that its voucher programs for New York City and Chicago are gaining momentum, but interested companies will have to act soon as funds are quickly being allocated.
The voucher program enables fleets to apply for voucher funding that pays up to 80% of the cost of installing Kinetics Hybrid systems.
The Kinetics Hybrid bolts on to new or existing vehicles to quickly transform class 3-7 trucks into more fuel-efficient and cleaner-running vehicles; and, the savings are big.
Fleets have reported up to 30 percent more miles per gallon and a comparable reduction in emissions when the hybrid is used in heavy start/stop duty cycles.
Last year, the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) approved the Kinetics Hybrid for voucher funding. Owners of private and non-profit, class 3-7 fleets that operate in the New York City area can now get reimbursed as part of an ongoing initiative to reduce noxious emissions in the region. $6 million dollars has been earmarked for the New York City Alternative Fuel Vehicle – Voucher Incentive Fund (NYCAFV-VIF).
The Kinetics Hybrid also qualifies for voucher funding through the Drive Clean Chicago program. Owners and operators of class 3-7 truck fleets that run in the Chicago area can get up to 80% of the system cost reimbursed as part of an initiative to reduce pollution and shift from diesel towards low emission options. $11.3 million has been earmarked for the program by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program.
“These programs are a great opportunity for fleets to go green at a fraction of the cost,” said Steve Cooney, vice president of sales for Crosspoint Kinetics. “Fleets really need to take advantage of the programs soon, though, as the money is going fast.”
Vouchers are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Right now, about $2.9 million remains for New York fleets and $10.2 million is left for those in Chicago. More information about the Kinetics Hybrid and available funding is at: crosspointkinetics.com.
