Program recognizes and rewards peak-performing fleet operations in North and South America

Alliance AutoGas participated in the third annual Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference on August 7th and 8th at the Durham Convention Center in Durham, NC. Featured speakers included Alliance AutoGas President Stuart Weidie and Ed Hoffman, President of Blossman Services – the technology distribution partner of Alliance AutoGas. During the Fleets & Advanced Mobility Solutions Panel, Weidie said, “These types of events look toward the future, focusing on what opportunities we have to improve transportation and to improve emissions. I would like to step back though to look at today, as we are not just in the vehicle side of alternative fuel operation. Our company, Alliance AutoGas, provides vehicle conversion systems, installs refueling infrastructure, and delivers fuel supply to fleet customers across 46 states currently.”

The 2019 Green Fleet Awards were announced in a special pre-ceremony before the start of the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference, and featured a sampling of the customers mentioned by Weidie. The program recognizes and rewards peak-performing fleet operations in North and South America. Currently in its twentieth year, the 100 Best Fleets identifies and encourages ever-increasing levels of performance improvement and innovation within the public fleet industry. The rankings were based on multiple factors including fuel emissions, fleet composition, supporting programs, and fleet utilization.

Five of the nationally awarded fleets are Alliance AutoGas customers.

  • DeKalb County, GA ranked #10
  • Cobb County, GA ranked #27
  • City of Raleigh, NC ranked #33
  • Prince Georges County, MD ranked #43
  • City of Roanoke, VA – Honorable Mention

Maryland’s Prince George’s County, Green Fleet award winner, is a large county boasting a population of 863,000 near Washington, DC, and is the second most populated county in the state. Richard Hilmer, Fleet Manager for Prince George’s County, says “Our County has put a lot of time and resources into running an efficient, eco-friendly fleet. It’s exciting to be awarded for those efforts. We consider our county to be a leader in best practices for the fleet community. Being one of the early adapters to autogas, we had the opportunity to share what it could do for other fleets in our area.”

Members of Alliance AutoGas attended the awards ceremony and were pleased to publicly honor their fleet customers. Happy Fox, Alternative Fuel Consultant for Alliance AutoGas, says “The Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference plays a big role in highlighting industry-leading sustainable fleet practices and alternative fuel opportunities. We were extremely proud to have customers be recognized in different areas of the country. Alliance AutoGas looks forward to helping more fleets make the transition to operating on autogas.”
