NACFE to gather with fleets, truck builders, technology companies and others to explore autonomy in the trucking industry

From Executive Director Mike Roeth

NACFE is very excited about the upcoming autonomous trucking workshop we are hosting in conjunction with the Indy Autonomous Challenge. October 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as industry leaders, students and educators gather to discuss various aspects of autonomous trucking.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Understand the status of autonomous technology.
  • Define the potential impacts of autonomy on efficiency.
  • Discuss implications of autonomy on the trucking industry.

Topics that will be covered include an introduction to autonomous vehicles, operational and support issues surrounding autonomous vehicles and financial and cost implications of autonomous vehicles. All leading to us together defining what the autonomous future will look like.

Workshop attendees also can attend the world’s first autonomous racecar event on Saturday, October 23. Students from accredited, tax-exempt colleges and universities are challenged with programming a Dallara AV-21 racecar to out-maneuver other teams.

We are excited to gather with fleets, truck builders, technology companies and others to explore autonomy in the trucking industry. And we are equally excited to meet and talk with the students from colleges and universities who are interested in furthering autonomous technology.

Please join us later this month at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for this educational and fun event!
