Frito-Lay Announces First 100% All-Electric Vehicle Site
The transformation at the PEC is in direct support of Frito-Lay’s PepsiCo Positive commitment to building a circular and inclusive value chain, achieving net zero emissions by 2040
Frito-Lay proudly announced its South Charlotte Product Exchange Center (PEC) as the company’s first 100% all-electric vehicle site.
The transformation at the PEC is in direct support of Frito-Lay’s PepsiCo Positive commitment to building a circular and inclusive value chain, achieving net zero emissions by 2040, and deploying 700 electric vehicles before year-end. Featuring 28 Ford E-Transits and a wide array of charging solutions, the South Charlotte PEC serves as a proving ground for future electric depots as Frito-Lay continues its commitment to tackle the environmental impacts of its operations head-on.
The success of strategic collaborations with North Carolina-based experts in utility (eTransEnergy) and charging solutions (Atom Power) underscores Frito-Lay and PepsiCo’s belief that partnership and collaboration are an integral part of driving transformational change.
Additionally, sharing some key stats below on how Frito-Lay’s first 100% all-electric vehicle site directly impacts the Charlotte community:
- 260 metric tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) removed from the community annually through this electrification
- 800 miles a day on average are driven through the South Charlotte PEC (Product Exchange Center) – the PEC services Gaston, Mecklenburg and Union Counties in NC + Lancaster and York Counties in SC. The facility services all retail stores, gas stations, etc., within these counties to ensure that consumers have the snacks at the ready whenever the want them.
