AMA Transportation Modernizes Operations With Carrier Logistics
Carrier adopts FACTS freight management software to automate operational and business processes
Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI), veteran providers of freight management software for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) fleets, today announced that AMA Transportation Co Inc. has implemented its FACTS solution to modernize business processes and improve productivity.
“After evaluating systems from a number of providers, it became clear that CLI was the best choice,” said Dan Hinkel, project manager at AMA Transportation. “The ability to automate business processes with its FACTS freight management software was a strong selling point. As a standalone solution it has all the capabilities we needed. FACTS also has the ability to grow with us so it’s a key to modernizing our operation, improving productivity, and strengthening our company brand.”
AMA Transportation began its search for an operating software solution in 2017 when it realized its legacy software had reached the end of its useful life, and was no longer being updated or supported by its supplier. After initial reviews of six solutions, its list of potential systems to adopt was quickly narrowed to two or three. Following visits with existing CLI customers, FACTS was chosen and implementation at AMA Transportation began in May of 2019.
“FACTS provides us with the functionality we need for planning, operations, dispatch and communication, and documentation, including eliminating paper processes,” Hinkel stated. “It is also easily integrated with our driver facing technology, including ELD and DVIR applications, as well as our fuel tax reporting software. In addition, CLI has a team of very talented and knowledgeable people with the ability to provide excellent implementation, training, and support services.”
Headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, AMA Transportation operates more than 100 tractors from four facilities. The company, which was founded in 1980 by Alfred R. Bruzzese Jr. and is now run by his sons, provides overnight service throughout New England and expanded service to the metropolitan New York New Jersey, and Pennsylvania areas.
“We are gratified that AMA Transportation has chosen CLI to modernize its business processes and drive improvements in productivity and efficiency,” said Ben Wiesen, president of CLI. “With the FACTS freight management system meeting their needs, we believe they will more effectively continue to provide superior service to their customers.”
The FACTS transportation and freight management system can be deployed across a network as a single database to manage all administrative and operations functions. With its complete financial suite, FACTS includes Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable modules and a complete General Ledger. Also part of the system is the FACTS Deal Management pricing and rating module, which provides LTL freight operations with the ability to properly price and rate shipments.
