Assured Telematics to Highlight Drivewyze Pre-Clear Weigh Station Bypass and Drivewyze Safety+ at Special Event During Geotab Connect 2023 Conference
Riverside Transportation Reports Strong Results Using Drivewyze Pre-Clear and Safety+
Assured Telematics (“ATI”), the industry leader in providing enterprise fleets with custom telematics solutions and applications, will be showcasing two of its fastest growing solutions, weigh station bypass and safety in-cab alerts, to fleet customers at Geotab Connect 2023 in Orlando, Florida on February 5-9. Geotab Connect attracts many of the world’s largest and most innovative fleets with the latest insights on data-driven innovation and digital transformation strategies to accelerate cost savings, operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
ATI, through its partnership with Geotab, offers a multitude of safety and productivity apps, including Drivewyze Pre-Clear weigh station bypass, along with Drivewyze Safety+. “For our customers, enabling Drivewyze is very simple and our Geotab portal provides a one-stop platform for managing all our customers’ trucks,” said Frank Pellitta, CEO of Assured Telematics. “Riverside Transportion is just one of our customers finding great value through Drivewyze. They found it incredibly easy to turn on Drivewyze through our platform and they’re reaping various benefits for both weigh station bypass and driver safety notifications.”
According to Ken Resta, Director of Safety for Riverside Transportion, the company has been an ATI customer since 2019 and activated Drivewyze Pre-Clear and Safety+ this past summer. “We started with a pilot test using 50 trucks (the company operates more than 900 tractors and 4,200 trailers in a truckload, LTL and specialized service operation) for a 30-day period,” he said. “But within a few weeks we decided to activate the entire fleet. The data we were seeing was so compelling that we brought our results to management early and they were quick to agree that we needed to move forward. It was literally a flip of a switch for ATI to engage all of our trucks with Drivewyze.”
With Drivewyze Pre-Clear, Riverside typically receives more than 4,600 bypasses each month with some trucks getting up to 92 bypasses per month. “Drivewyze is in so many states with more than 800 locations, so the coverage is really outstanding,” said Resta. “And since Drivewyze is not transponder based, it means mobile weigh stations, at rest areas for example, are using Drivewyze and granting bypasses to our drivers. With our previous service, we would have had to pull into all of those mobile sites. That is just one huge benefit our drivers have pointed out to us.”
While weigh station bypass allows Riverside drivers to pull more miles, Drivewyze Safety+ has become a big contributor to safety as well. “We’ve worked hard to improve our CSA safety scores, and Drivewyze has been a core part of that effort,” said Resta. “Drivers have told us they appreciate the timely in-cab alerts to slow down when they come up on dangerous curves, steep grades on mountain passes, and in high citation areas. And we’ve added to the alerts by geo-fencing areas along routes where we know we need our drivers to slow down. This is easy for us to do through the Safety+ platform. Through Safety+ we can track the impact of these alerts and speed has been controlled better by our drivers. The results are there.”
Resta said historically when talking with drivers about safety, “a lot of the conversations are typically negative since it is reactive coaching – ‘looking at reports, we can tell you were speeding and you need to slow down,’ for example,” he said. “But since Safety+ is a proactive tool, we can coach positively and that has a better impact. ‘We noticed you have reduced your speed when the alerts came on – great job!’”
A new feature of Drivewyze Safety+ has been getting solid reviews from Resta – Severe Weather alerts. “Last year we experienced some weather-related accidents on I-70,” he said. “Alerts for upcoming bad weather can only help our drivers prepare for what’s ahead,” he said.
“Drivewyze is one of our core integrated safety services,” Resta concluded. “The services Drivewyze provides do what they’re supposed to do, and they’re backed with a support center that is always responsive. I know if something comes up, or we want to interpret data differently, they’re there to help. That goes from their CEO all the way down to the person that answers the phone. They’re a great partner to have in our corner.”
