On-board, Real-time Fault Monitoring System from Omnitracs and Navistar
Omnitracs, a leading provider of integrated wireless systems to transportation and logistics companies, and Navistar, a leading OEM of commercial trucks, buses, defense vehicles and engines, will soon launch an on-board, real-time fault monitoring system designed to reduce maintenance and repair costs.
Fault Monitoring Optimized by Navistar’s OnCommand Connection leverages data from Omnitracs’ Fault Monitoring application, combined with an easy-to-understand user interface developed by Navistar.
In near real-time, the solution delivers more than 8,000 action plans based on vehicle fault codes generated, helping fleets increase vehicle uptime by supporting quicker repairs, tracking repair progress, and controlling maintenance costs.
The solution, which will be available to fleets with all-makes of vehicles and engines and Omnitracs Mobile Computing Platform onboard technology, also includes a dashboard that provides fleet managers access to vehicle health reports, weather, fault description and location, and time of the fault via the user interface or email notifications.
With the joint Navistar-Omnitracs solution, fleet managers don’t have to spend their time trying to decipher fault codes, allowing them to focus, instead, on how best to implement the recommended action plans. Fleet managers can also receive updates from dealers and maintenance shops, to ensure back-office teams are always aware of the latest status of vehicle repairs in progress.
