Company Rescues Laid-off Industry Professionals, Navigates Logistics of Critical Equipment

When COVID-19 became a pandemic, CDL 1000 CEO, Andrew Sobko, and President of Brokerage, Jared Kreiter, saw an opportunity to help make a difference. Troubled by the number of layoffs taking place within their industry, they decided to go a different direction.

“At a time when other shipping companies were laying people off, we recognized an opportunity to recruit some of the best talents within our industry,” said Sobko. “Through social media and word-of-mouth with industry insiders, we hired more than 30 people who were suddenly left without a paycheck, many of them well-respected industry veterans with years of impressive experience in logistics.”

CDL 1000 did more than just offer relevant jobs to those who met the requirements. When many U.S. cities were hurting for supplies and equipment for its frontline workers, Sobko and Kreiter stepped up and put their decades of experience and award-winning technology platform into action.

“We proudly rallied our staff and professional networks to deliver containers full of life-saving equipment to many American cities,” said Kreiter. “We moved masks, ventilators, hospital-grade PPE, water, toilet paper, beds for make-shift triage centers from California to Texas to New York and many states in-between.”

Kreiter added that the company put its profit margins aside and offered its services at cost for shipping critical PPE items to help Americans fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Helping America and our fellow citizens was extremely important to us,” added Kreiter. “Having the right people on our staff made the impossible possible.”
