Celadon Trucking Opens Welcome Center for Drivers
Get ready to roll in style: Celadon Trucking recently announced the opening of a new welcome center for drivers in Indianapolis. The new facility will provide drivers with a place to rest as well as grab a bite to eat or visit with a healthcare professional during a trip to the home office.
“In our continuing efforts to live our Driver First mantra, we felt it important to provide our partners on the road with a first class welcome center,” said Joe Stevens, Vice President of Driver Development. “The new Celadon Welcome Center (CWC) offers our co-workers a dedicated place for a little rest and relaxation while they are with us here in Indianapolis. It’s somewhere that drivers can grab a hot cup of coffee and feel appreciated by other members of the Celadon family, since the CWC is their home away from home.”
The new CWC is located less than a quarter mile from Celadon’s headquarters facility. A shuttle runs 24/7 every ten minutes, allowing drivers to drop off their trucks at the maintenance facility or meet with various departments at headquarters and have an easy means of returning to the welcome center.
“Having been an over the road driver early in my career, I have experienced the challenges that truck drivers face on the road and put this knowledge to use in designing the welcome center. As an over the road driver, you are out there alone and even a truck stop can seem pretty empty,” stated Stevens. “That’s why the entire team here at the CWC goes out of their way to make drivers feel appreciated once they walk through the front door – whether they are new driver here for the three-day orientation or a current driver stopping by while their truck is in the shop for maintenance.”
Among the many amenities at the Celadon Welcome Center are:
– 104 single occupancy rooms, each featuring full size beds and flat screen TVs
– Multiple dining options including hot meals, vending areas, and free coffee
– Health clinic offering primary health, pharmacy, and wellness services
– Business center with nine computer stations
– Laundry facilities with both washer and dryers
– Private shower areas for both men and women
– Driver lounge with couches, TVs, table tennis, foosball, and poker table
– Fitness area with basketball court, weight room and racquetball area
