Crosspoint Kinetics and Morgan Olson Align on Electric Hybrid Walk-In Vans
Crosspoint Kinetics, a subsidiary of Cummins Crosspoint, has announced at the Work Truck Show that it has forged an alliance with leading walk-in van producer Morgan Olson that will make Kinetics Hybrid-powered delivery vehicles available to customers throughout North America.
The Kinetics Hybrid from Crosspoint Kinetics transforms Morgan Olson’s class 3-7 delivery vans and trucks into more fuel-efficient and cleaner running vehicles.
Here’s how it works: The Crosspoint Kinetics parallel electric hybrid system bolts on to the driveline and captures kinetic energy while slowing and braking. It transforms energy into electricity that is stored in long-life ultra-capacitors where it can be used as incremental power to launch and accelerate the vehicle.
Results have been impressive.
Users have reported up to 30 percent more miles per gallon and a comparable reduction in emissions when the hybrid is used in heavy start/stop duty cycles.
“We’re excited about the alliance and the privilege to assist Morgan Olson customers with achieving their operating and efficiency goals using the Kinetics Hybrid,² said Merritt Becker, CEO of Crosspoint Kinetics. “Morgan Olson designs the most trusted, efficient and versatile service and delivery vehicles in North America. Offering Cummins engines and now Crosspoint Kinetics Hybrids demonstrates just how our values and capabilities have been aligned through the years.
Morgan Olson is the industry leader in class 2-7 (GVWR) walk-in van bodies, cab chassis bodies and cargo van upfitting in North America. The company has been an innovator for more than 60 years and continues to build on that legacy with energy efficient solutions like the Kinetics Hybrid.
“Our company will always seek ways to meet our client’s changing needs,” said Rich Tremmel, vice president of sales and marketing at Morgan Olson. “Our clients are looking for a simpler solution to lowering their operating costs while reducing environmental impact. In many cases, the Kinetics Hybrid is that right solution.
The Kinetics Hybrid is engineered to be easy to install and operate in small transit buses, shuttles, and service/delivery vehicles. The system successfully completed independent performance testing and has been validated by an estimated 5 million miles of customer driving throughout North America.
