Eaton Technologies Featured on 55% of Nominations for Best Engines
Power management company Eaton has announced that its engine boosting, and fuel- and emissions-saving technologies are on 21 of the 38 engines, or 55%, of those nominated by WardsAuto for its 21st annual “10 Best Engines competition.”
This year’s nominees feature a wide range of powertrain types and sizes, ranging from three- to eight-cylinder gasoline, diesel and compressed-natural-gas (CNG) internal combustion engines to hybrid- and full-electric systems and fuel cells.
Eaton’s supercharger, valvetrain, valve-actuation, fuel management and emissions control technologies are designed to help improve the efficiency, safety and overall performance of these diverse engine and fuel systems.
Last year, Eaton technologies were featured on six of the winners –including the supercharged Audi V-6, which has been a 10 Best Engine for five straight years.
The Ward’s 10 Best Engines competition pits the latest engines available in the U.S. market against the returning winners from the previous year. To be eligible, an engine must be available on a production vehicle in the first quarter of 2015. Ward’s editors rate engines on horsepower, torque, drivability, noise mitigation, flexibility, observed fuel economy and onboard technology.
The 2015 winners will be announced at the “WardsAuto Outlook Conference” in Southfield, Mich. An awards’ ceremony will be held in January during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
