ELD Mandate Deadline Approaches, December 17

The Federal Motor Carrier Service Administration has advised carriers and drivers subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) who are using paper logs or logging software, to transition to Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) by December 17 of this year.

Carriers and drivers using automatic onboard recording devices (AOBRDs) before December 18, 2017, may, according to the FMCS continue using AOBRDs through December 16, 2019.]

The FMCS further advised that prior to purchasing an ELD, carriers and drivers should confirm that the device is certified and registered with the government agency, as noted here.
