Goldman Sachs is recognizing Flock Freight® Founder and CEO, Oren Zaslansky, as one of the Most Exceptional Entrepreneurs of 2023 at its Builders and Innovators Summit in Healdsburg, California. Goldman Sachs selected Zaslansky from multiple industries to be honored at the two-day event.
Oren Zaslansky is the founder and CEO of Flock Freight, a FreightTech company creating a smarter, more sustainable supply chain in today’s $8.2 trillion global transportation and logistics industry. Raised by parents who worked for a van line and later started their own freight forwarding companies, Oren has deep-seated roots in logistics and entrepreneurship. At 21, he founded a 125-truck fleet that provided white-glove freight service throughout the U.S. and Canada. His subsequent venture, SolSource Logistics, continues to operate today, with Oren serving as chairman. SolSource Logistics opened Oren’s eyes to how wasteful traditional freight shipping is, and ultimately led him to find a new approach by building a technology-driven solution – prompting his personal mission to work on the industry, and not just in the industry.
As a result, Flock Freight (formerly AuptiX) opened its doors in 2015, driven by Oren’s vision of using technology to combine multiple shipments into one multi-stop shared truckload. Under Oren’s leadership, Flock Freight is scaling rapidly by dismantling freight’s outdated, unnecessary constraints with a modern, digital platform that puts customers first and finds and fills empty space on trucks.
Flock Freight’s guaranteed, terminal-free shared truckload option, FlockDirect®, eliminates the hassles of the hub-and-spoke freight shipping model using patented technology that matches locations, schedules, and compatible shipments, finding the best options to pool freight among billions of possible combinations; shipments stay safe and in a single truck, driven by a single driver, all the way to their destination allowing shippers to only pay for the space they need and enabling carriers to earn more from every linear foot of capacity — all while slashing carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional shipping methods.
With Oren at the helm, it took Flock Freight only six years to join the unicorn club with $399M total funding. The company has since been selected by CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list for three years running and was one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies of 2022.
“We’re delighted to recognize Oren as one of the most exceptional entrepreneurs of 2023,” said David Solomon, Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs. “Like everyone in this year’s class, Oren has been a visionary in their field, pushing forward innovation and redefining markets. We are excited to harness Goldman’s convening power to bring together these dynamic leaders and hear their insights.”
In addition to honoring the most exceptional entrepreneurs, the Summit consists of general sessions and clinics led by seasoned entrepreneurs, academics and business leaders as well as resident scholars.
