Ice Truck Battery Fires Up in the Deep Freeze
When the folks at Canadian Tire of Zurich, Ontario, wanted to prove that their batteries could stand up to the cold, they went into a deep freeze – literally.
To prove their point, they had an 11,000 pound ice truck created. Here’s what went down.
These intrepid entrepreneurs stripped the cab and body from a 2005 GMC Silverado, created a steel frame and hired, yes, ice sculptors to literally chisel out a new “ice frame” surrounding the chassis.
The finished piece worked like a charm, a cold one at that, and was reportedly driven one mile at a speed of 12 mph.
