J.B. Hunt to Participate in Wreaths Across America for 5th Consecutive Year
J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: JBHT), one of the largest supply chain solutions providers in North America, will participate in Wreaths Across America for the fifth consecutive year December 7-15, helping ensure millions of fallen service men and women are remembered this holiday season.
More than 2,000 J.B. Hunt employees will join thousands of volunteers on December 15 for Wreaths Across America Day ceremonies throughout the country, placing wreaths on the headstones of veterans at participating cemeteries.
Forty-two J.B. Hunt drivers nominated and selected by company leadership will transport the wreaths from Harrington, Maine, to their final destination using 16 new military-themed semi tractors. They will also take part in local memorial ceremonies as they hand off truck keys to the next driver along the convoy routes.
“Each year this event evokes a broad spectrum of emotions. We are encouraged by the show of support and participation, yet humbled when reflecting on its purpose,” said John Roberts, president and CEO of J.B. Hunt. “For each wreath that is placed we are reminded of the personal sacrifice that has been made, and we say their names to show gratitude for their service.”
J.B. Hunt will join other local companies for a Wreaths Across America Day event at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Prior to the event, J.B. Hunt will hold a support rally on December 14 at its corporate headquarters for employees that will include multiple Gold-Star families. Altogether, J.B. Hunt will help deliver wreaths to 40 cemeteries nationwide, including Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Elwood Cemetery, Fayetteville National Cemetery, Indiana Veterans’ Home Cemetery, Phoenix National Memorial Cemetery, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Richmond National Cemetery, San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Tahoma National Cemetery, and Virginia National Cemetery, among others.
In 2017, more than 1.5 million wreaths were placed on headstones at more than 1,400 participating cemeteries during Wreaths Across America. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Be their witness.” All J.B. Hunt drivers for Wreaths Across America are veterans or have a direct association with a veteran. Upon completion, the new trucks will be assigned to select drivers participating in this year’s event.
