Lightweight Composite Wheels Boost Fuel Economy in Light Trucks and SUVs
Lacks Wheel Trim System has reported that its lightweight composite wheels produce significant fuel economy improvements for light duty trucks and SUVs based on its ongoing testing and results.
Initially reporting, in 2013, a 4.1 percent improvement and accompanying +0.76 mpg increase (as a result of side by side comparisons to standard production wheels), the eVOLVE™ lightweight composite wheels have since been validated on at least two other light duty truck platforms showing similar results.
Lacks notes that its OEM customers have also achieved notable savings in their own internal testing.
Looking ahead, the company reports that derivatives of the eVOLVE™ program are now slated for high volume production beginning in 2015.
