New Tire Inflator from Aperia to Improve Fleet Efficiency and Safety
Aperia Technologies, a company focused on increasing transportation efficiency through clean technology innovation, has launched Halo Tire Inflator.
The product is a self-powered, bolt-on tire inflation technology that uses a wheel’s rotation to maintain optimal tire pressure. According to the manufacuturer, “Halo creates significant savings on fuel costs for fleet operators, while reducing truck pollution, and improving the safety of America’s roads.”
The need is apparently big.
According to research by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), 55% of all truck tires on the road are not within their target pressure range. This reduces tire life and drives up annual tire costs, typically a fleet’s number one maintenance expense, by 10-15%.
FMCSA data also shows that maintaining proper tire pressure results in a 1-2% fuel efficiency increase. By eliminating tire underinflation, fleets can save more than $2,200 annually for each tractor-trailer.
“Halo is the first easy-to-install inflation system that works on both drive and trailer axles as well as both dual and wide-based tires. It operates on a similar principle to a self-winding watch,” said Josh Carter, CEO and Co-Founder of Aperia.
