Oil plunges 5%, now below $30 per barrel

As the world financial markets continue to shudder, oil has led the march down.

On Friday, January 15, the price of oil plunged early 6% to close below $30 per barrel.  How it will impact transportation in general, and fleets specifically, remains to be seen.  One thing is for certain, volatility remains in play.  Extreme views have oil going down as low as $10 per barrel.

While that seems to be a worst-case scenario, it is entirely plausible that U.S drillers and refiners — and the fleets supporting them — will be put to the test.
