Optimus Get EPA Approval on Biofuel Conversion for Commercial Trucks

| July 8, 2014

OptimusOptimus Technologies has announced that it is the first to receive U.S. EPA approval for an advanced biofuel conversion solution for existing medium- and heavy-duty trucks.

The company further noted that it is also the first to achieve compliance for use with pure biofuel derived from recycled cooking oil.

According to Optimus, the solution reduces fleet fuel costs up to 25% and reduces lifecycle emissions up to 80% without the prohibitive start-up costs of compressed natural gas (CNG).

The company further stated that its solution “creates new business opportunities for advanced biofuel providers, from biodiesel refiners to ethanol refiners and cooking oil recyclers.”

While new to the U.S., solutions of this type have been available in Europe for more than a decade.

OptimusStated CEO Colin Huwyler, “Our solution represents a tangible opportunity for fleets to shrink their operating costs while improving the environment.”
