Peterbilt Sees “Red” Courtesy of Axalta

Ever wonder how Peterbilt achieves that super hot-fire metallic red color as the paint finish on some of its vehicles?

Axalta has pioneered in the development of a collection of custom colors exclusively for Peterbilt using special-effect pigments. What’s more, the line’s signature color, Legendary Red, was featured on Peterbilt Truck Models 579 and 567 in the company’s booth at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

Peterbilt’s styling studio staff and marketing teams, as well as Axalta’s color, marketing and sales experts worked collaboratively to create the Legendary color line that incorporates new special effect tints.

“The new Legendary premium paint options create a unique, metallic-flake appearance with superior shine and shimmer characteristics,” said Anthony Gansle, Peterbilt Marketing Manager. “Additionally, the new finishes feature outstanding quality and durability.”

“Peterbilt’s exclusive new color, Legendary Red, is on the leading edge of color styling and delivers the proven durability of an Imron® Elite topcoat,” added Marko Strukelj, Axalta North American Liquid Industrial Product Director. “The colors selected for the Legendary line were created exclusively for Peterbilt using Axalta’s newest tints that allow for a dramatic effect.”
