Prime Trucking Company Expands Facilities in Salt Lake City
Prime, Inc. adds new amenities building packed with luxuries like a salon, spa and daycare to attract and retain associates in tough job market
One of the largest trucking companies in the nation, Prime, Inc. recently opened a new 61,000-square-feet building at its Salt Lake City terminal to provide unsurpassed amenities for their driving and non-driving associates and to recruit and retain employees in a tough job market.
The new building is packed with amenities, including a salon, spa, daycare, gym, private bunk rooms, basketball court, healthcare, lounge and a café serving 2,500 meals each week to recruit and retain associates seeking a unique opportunity in Salt Lake City’s competitive job market.
At the new building, Prime associates have access to healthcare and a sleep lab. In addition, associates can work out with a personal trainer for free. As part of the company’s wellness program, trainers also provide customized workouts to keep truck drivers active while on the long haul.
The new building is part of a multi-faceted effort to retain and recruit more drivers and warehouse staff in the face of one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation. Utah has a 2.9% unemployment rate, and the country is facing a years-long shortage of truck drivers. Prime has similar amenities buildings in Springfield, MO and Pittston, PA to help with driver and non-driver comfort while providing an enticing prospect of employment.

As the crossroads of the West, Salt Lake City is close to major interstates including I-15, I-80 and I-70. Approximately 750 trucks pass through Prime’s Salt Lake City terminal each week.
Known for investing in its associates, Prime offers fully benefited positions in fleet management, dispatching and mechanics. The company also provides multiple training and certification programs. The new amenities building includes a state-of-the-art truck driving simulator for students earning their Commercial Driver’s License through Prime’s official training program.
