Ray Brisby, CAFM®, Receives NAFA’s Excellence in Education Award
NAFA Fleet Management Association, the vehicle fleet industry’s largest membership association, honored Calgary Fire Department Fleet Manager Ray Brisby, CAFM®, with the Excellence in Education award at its annual conference, the NAFA Institute & Expo (I&E). The award was presented in Anaheim, Calif, this past April.
Brisby is a driving force for the Association’s industry-leading fleet education programs. He became a NAFA instructor in 2010 and has taught more than 80 individual classes at all levels, from the Essentials of Fleet Management seminar to the CAFM Boot Camps. In 2018, he was integral to NAFA’s Disaster Pre-Conference Workshop, integrating into the lessons his firsthand experience with the 2013 Alberta, Canada, floods.
NAFA’s Excellence in Education Award recognizes a Regular or Associate Member who made exceptional contributions to the creation, development, and implementation of education programs for fleet managers, over an extended period of years. Previous recipients of this honor include Patti Earley, CAFM (2011); Ruth Alfson, CAFM (2006); and Christopher Amos, CAFM (2003).
NAFA President Bryan Flansburg, CAFM – also a past recipient of this honor – cited Brisby as one of the few instructors who has taught all nine certificate courses that NAFA offers and is continually rated as one of the top instructors by students. “In the past 12 months alone,” Flansburg added, “he has taught a Boot Camp in Edmonton, Alberta, a pre-conference event and several concurrent sessions at last year’s I&E, and an Essentials of Fleet Management Seminar in Philadelphia.”
