Despite what the commercials often show, only one in four pickup owners actually tow anything more than once per month.
Why? For some, towing can be an intimidating process for the inexperienced. And that’s where technology comes in. So, get this: Now there is hi-tech help in the form of apps and cameras that are being used in the process.
What’s more, the new 2019 Silverado 1500, Chevy has an app in the truck and on the Chevy smartphone application that includes a step-by-step checklist, instructing how to hook up and test a trailer.
Features include:
- Automatically activating parking brake that holds the truck in position after backing up to a trailer.
- Anti-theft alarm if the trailer is disconnected while the truck is locked.
- A label on the door of every 2019 Silverado, custom to the truck’s VIN, that lists gross vehicle weight rating, maximum payload, tongue weight.
So, it’s a great way to tap away to tow away.
