Revolution Trucking Looks to Disrupt the Truckload Industry
RT noticed that the over-sized and over-weight segment of the truckload industry is significantly underserved
James Adams, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, announces the formation of Revolution Trucking, a limited liability company based in Seville, Ohio. Revolution provides asset-based and brokered truckload solutions with a focus on dry van, flat bed, and power-only moves in the lower 48 states.
“This is an exciting time to be launching a trucking company. There has been a lot of industry consolidation in the last 10 years and quite frankly, shippers and drivers have lost out,” Adams explained. “As transportation providers have grown, their focus has shifted from customer service to cost cutting in order to increase their own profits. Revolution looks to change that trend by introducing a number of innovative solutions aimed at providing shippers with multiple service options, improving overall customer service, and providing drivers with more money and a better quality of life.”
Brian Watson, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Revolution Trucking, LLC, and Adams have worked together for nearly 15 years, helping transportation and logistics companies grow much faster than the industry. “We’ve identified a number of unique opportunities over the years, but recently we noticed that the over-sized and over-weight segment of the truckload industry is significantly underserved,” said Watson. “Together we have hundreds of industry relationships, including shippers, drivers, and transportation providers, so we are looking to leverage that strength and capitalize on this gap.”
Revolution Trucking opened its doors on May 1, 2019 and has already achieved an aggressive growth curve. Adams and Watson raised the seed round of financing from individual investors and Fifth Third Bank. Revolution will begin a $2 million Series A round of financing within the next 12 months in order to build the fleet and bring on senior personnel.
“Even though the trucking industry is crowded, we are poised to capitalize on our numerous competitive advantages,” added Adams. “I’ve been in supply-chain, logistics, and transportation for nearly 30 years, so I know what works. Watson and I have the skills, experience, and relationships to build a world class trucking company.”
Prior to forming Revolution, Adams held executive positions at Choice Logistics, Panther Premium Logistics, PwC Consulting, and 3M. Adams most notably helped Panther grow from $100 million to $300 million in revenues and took the company public in 2012 through an acquisition by ArcBest Corporation (NASDAQ: ARCB). Watson recently left his position as Director of Transportation at Reserve Management Group to join Adams. Watson worked with Adams at both Choice and Panther, together winning numerous industry awards for innovation and performance.
Adams moved from New York City to Northeast Ohio to form Revolution Trucking with Watson. Both reside in Wadsworth, Ohio with the Revolution HQ just a few miles down the road in Seville, Ohio (where I-76 and I-71 intersect). Revolution intends to create numerous high paying jobs for the area and towards the end of the year will begin looking for space to expand.
