RoadPro and Make-A-Wish Celebrate the 29th Mother’s Day Truck Convoy
The Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Truck Convoy will mark its 29th year and will be presented once again by RoadPro Family of Brands. This record-breaking event on Sunday, May 13, 2018, will bring nearly 600 drivers to Central Pennsylvania that will participate in the 26-mile convoy.
This year’s Convoy, whose theme is “26 Miles – 50 Wishes” hopes to raise $500,000, which would be enough to grant 50 wishes to 50 children within the Chapter’s territory that covers the Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley.
The top 30 fundraisers from 2017 will lead the convoy, with the driver that raises the most taking the honored first truck position. Many drivers will have the distinguished opportunity of having a Wish Child ride with them in the convoy. Each year many of the RoadPro Pro Council members also participate and donate to the convoy, including Henry Albert, who will present the $25,000 check to the Make-A-Wish team on behalf of RoadPro and the trucking community. Albert also donated his RoadPro Rewards points that he earned this year to Make-A-Wish. The truck drivers are an essential part of the event and each driver must raise a minimum of $100 to participate. However, most go above and beyond that amount to help insure that the children receive their wish, proving that truck drivers are a very charitable group.
The event will begin at the Burle Business Park in Lancaster, PA and is open to the public. The community is invited to attend the Convoy Carnival that is held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. complete with games, live music, auctions and delicious local food. The convoy will leave the lot at 1:30 p.m. and travel the 26 miles through beautiful Lancaster County with over 25,000 members of the community lining the roadside to cheer them on.
In addition to sponsoring the event, RoadPro will also donate a prize pack valued at over $450 to be raffled off during the Convoy Carnival with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish organization.
