Roadrunner Transportation Systems Invests in Equipment to Better Serve Customers and Drivers
Better equipment will help fuel and maintenance programs for company drivers and independent contractors
Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Inc has announced their investment in additional fleet assets to improve the driving experience and keep freight moving efficiently throughout its networks.
Adding new equipment to its fleet is expected to help increase safety, reduce breakdowns, improve fuel efficiency and provide a better driver experience. The upgraded fleet is also expected to help increase driver productivity and on-time delivery while reducing maintenance costs.
Capital plans for 2019 include the acquisition of over 500 sleeper and day cab tractors and the acquisition or refinancing of over 2,100 dry and refrigerated trailers. The introduction of these assets will reduce overall tractor fleet age and add efficient capacity across all business segments.
“Investing in our fleet is one of the many ways we are focusing on putting our customers, company drivers and independent contractors first. We are extremely proud to introduce newer equipment to help us improve our fleet safety, reliability and efficiency,” said Michael Gettle, President and COO of Roadrunner Transportation Systems.
Gettle continued, “Since forming in 2017, our experienced and knowledgeable Enterprise Fleet Services team has added a tremendous amount of value to our organization and continues to help streamline our purchasing of equipment, fuel and maintenance. Over the last few years, this team has helped us leverage our collective purchasing power and partner with best-in-class equipment vendors. This team’s efforts have yielded extremely positive impacts on the quality of equipment, fuel and maintenance programs that we are able to offer drivers who choose to partner with Roadrunner.”
