SkyBitz to Provide Continuous Tracking of Capitol Christmas Tree for 9th Consecutive Year
Telematics and fleet management leader, SkyBitz®, has announced that for the ninth year, it will provide real-time tracking of the Capitol Christmas Tree’s cross country journey to the Nation’s Capital.
Using its proprietary tracking solution, SkyBitz will provide tracking data, complete with a detailed map of the tree’s location and make the journey available for all to enjoy via online www.TrackTheTree.com.
The 2016 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is an 80 foot Engelmann spruce and this will be the second time the tree is coming from Idaho. The tree will begin its more than 3,900 mile cross country journey from the Payette National Forest in Idaho on November 5. The tour will start with a community celebration in McCall, Idaho and then will travel within Idaho with stops in several cities, before starting its nation-wide tour on November 15. More than 25 community celebrations are being planned throughout the tour, culminating with the official tree lighting in early December.
“We are proud to support this tradition of tracking the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree for the ninth year and look forward to creating a unique opportunity for the American public to follow along and interact virtually on the tour,” said Henry Popplewell, President, SkyBitz. “The website we created, TracktheTree.com, allows everyone the opportunity to celebrate the spirit of the season and the forests that connect us all, regardless of where they are located.”
“The annual journey is only possible with the help of strong community partnerships throughout Idaho and beyond state lines,” said Bruce Ward, founder of Choose Outdoors. “We’re grateful for the time and resources SkyBitz is providing to help make this the best tour to date.”
In addition to providing the latest location information, TracktheTree.com will include photo galleries from the Capitol Christmas Tree Cutting Ceremony and events, as well as fun facts about many of the tour stops.
The tracking of the Capitol Christmas Tree is made possible through the use of SkyBitz’s global remote asset management solution. The SkyBitz solution is comprised of hardware devices, satellite/cellular networks, and its secure web-based platform which provides real-time location updates of the tree’s cross country journey to the Nation’s Capitol via www.TracktheTree.com.
