Spireon Debuts Solar-powered Trailer and Asset Tracking System
Spireon, a leader in aftermarket telematics, has announced the general availability of FleetLocate FL Solar, its solar-powered solution for trailer and asset tracking.
The technology will is being showcased at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition (TMC) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Spireon customer Pan American Express, a privately-owned full service transportation company, is among the first fleets to adopt FL Solar, and has cited ease of installation and extended operational life of the device as key advantages.

FL Solar uses innovative harvesting technology to allow fleets to maintain a pulse on trailer activity regardless of whether it is connected to tractor power or not, and is ideal for fleets that operate trailers or other assets that don’t support traditional power options. Fleets that prefer a supplemental power source to ensure continuity of service will benefit from FL Solar’s long battery life, which exceeds other solar-based options on the market. Installation of FL Solar takes less than 15 minutes, reducing asset downtime, and customers can immediately tap into Spireon FleetLocate’s management platform for actionable intelligence gathered from the solar device.
