TECH UPDATE: Yahoo wins Web traffic count for first time in 2½ years
Courtesy of CNBC: So what was the most popular U.S. website last month? Not Google (sort of).
Turns out that Yahoo had the most unique monthly visitors in July, outdistancing even the search king. And that didn’t even include numbers for Yahoo’s newly acquired Tumblr blogging site, which came in 28th place on comScore’s rankings, according to AllThingsD.
Yahoo had 196.6 million monthly uniques, versus, 192.3 million for Google, the previous leader. However, the numbers do not include mobile usage. In addition, such visitors are counted only once in a month, no matter how many times they return to the site.
Still, it’s the first time that Yahoo had finished No. 1 since May 2011.
