Think Big! New 55-ton Haulage Tire from Michelin
To meet demand of the new 55 metric-ton articulated dump trucks for the mine, quarry and construction industries, Michelin has gone big, real big, with the introduction of a new size Michelin X Super Terrain+.
The new tire, which debuted at the MINExpo Show in Las Vegas, was featured on Volvo’s new A60H, the market’s biggest articulated dump truck.
“Volvo’s A60H has the highest payload of any articulated truck on the market and demands tires that can carry the tremendous load,” said Jamey Fish, director of earthmover marketing for Michelin North America. “Michelin has designed a tire solution in conjunction with Volvo that offers superior load-carrying capacity, speed, damage resistance and excellent traction for customers. This solution is engineered specifically for this machine, not for a scraper or any other type of equipment.”
Articulated dump trucks perform in some of the most demanding site conditions, and the tires needed for these vehicles must deliver the maximum productivity, safety, longevity and durability to eliminate downtime.
