TravelCenters of America to Break Ground on its First Electric Truck Charging Station

Focused on fast and reliable charging, bp pulse deploys charging points for EV drivers and commercial fleets on the go; at destination hubs, at the depot and bp retail sites

TravelCenters of America, alongside bp pulse and the California Energy
Commission, is proud to announce the groundbreaking of one of the nation’s first
publicly accessible MHD truck charging stations at its TA Ontario, California travel
center. TA’s CEO, Debi Boffa, with bp pulse CEO, Sujay Sharma, and Commissioner
Patricia Monahan, will conduct an official groundbreaking ceremony on
Wednesday, July 24 at 10:00 am PDT. The charging station, a pilot project in
collaboration with the California Energy Commission, demonstrates bp’s
commitment to support fleet customers transitioning to zero-tail pipe emission
trucks

The truck charging station will include:

  • four 400kW chargers, with an additional lane for a 1 megawatt (MCS) charger,
    providing DC ultra-fast charging for up to five trucks simultaneously;
  • An integrated microgrid generating reliable, renewable power from solar panels
  • A battery energy storage system
