Trump Picks Ex-Iowa DOT Director Trombino for Federal Highway Administration
President Trump has selected former Iowa Department of Transportation director Paul Trombino to be administrator of the Federal Highway Administration.
He headed the Iowa DOT for five years before departing in November of last year.
Clearly, a lot is riding on this appointment, given the the promise by the President to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure, including roads and bridges.
Of note, Trombino played a key role in Iowa’s adoption in 2015 of a 10-cent-per-gallon increase in gasoline and diesel fuel taxes that was designed to raise $200 million per year for state and local road and bridge construction projects.
The nominee also served 17 years with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. He has degrees in civil engineering and economics.
