United Transport Promotes Health And Wellness
Refrigerated and tank carrier adopts the Rolling Strong platform and app to bring the benefits of healthier lifestyle choices to its drivers and all employees
Rolling Strong, the provider of health and wellness programs for transportation companies and their drivers, as well as owner-operators, said that United Transport, Inc. is rolling out its platform and app as the centerpiece of an effort to bring the benefits of a healthier lifestyle to its employees.
The Rolling Strong health and wellness app is being made available to about 75 United Transport employees, including drivers, office and dispatch staff, and maintenance personnel. The company is also installing a higi health screening station at its headquarters facility where it can be accessed by drivers and others to track and share their health information with Rolling Strong coaches. The higi station measures a user’s weight, blood pressure, pulse and body mass index.
“We had been looking for an employee engagement program to help everyone get healthier, but the options from our health insurance providers are not focused on the mobile nature of trucking operations, and they don’t have an app that could make them available at all times,” said Michelle Johnson, human resources director at United Transport. “Rolling Strong checked all the boxes for us with its app and as a company that understands the unique health and wellness issues in our industry, especially those faced by drivers.
“Rolling Strong also offers and supports competitions that we believe will drive up participation and bring the benefits of making healthier choices to more of our employees,” Johnson added. “As we all use the Rolling Strong program to get healthier we anticipate less sick time, more driver availability, and hopefully lower health insurance costs for the company and our employees. With Rolling Strong, everyone at United Transport, and their families, stands to benefit.”
United Transport is now introducing Rolling Strong during regular safety meetings. Founded in 1988, the Lincoln, Nebraska-based carrier offers 48-state local, regional, and long haul refrigerated and tanker service with a fleet of late-model tractors and trailers.
“We’re looking forward to working with United Transport to reduce health issues for their drivers and other employees by encouraging them to be more active and to make healthier lifestyle choices,” said Stephen Kane, president of Rolling Strong. “Through competitions, we’re also expecting them to realize success, and those stories will help encourage others to participate as well.”
