U.S. fleet operators increasing usage of AI to automate routine driver and vehicle behavior analysis

VisionTrack, the leading AI video telematics specialist, announced strong growth for its AI-based video telematics solution during 2022 from commercial fleet operators internationally. The number of cameras connected to its award-winning IoT platform increased by 43 percent, with the rapidly expanding U.S. operation now making up more than 10 percent of the overall devices since its launch just over a year ago.

VisionTrack’s AI camera technology uses Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), Driver Status Monitoring (DSM), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) to automatically monitor hazards and high-risk behaviors on the road and provide real-time feedback straight to the driver – enabling fleet operators to maintain safety levels for both their drivers and other road users, save time monitoring routine behavior, and automate management processes.

“VisionTrack doubled its operation in the U.S., including several senior appointments, at a time when the company increased its global workforce by over 40 percent, with particular focus on strengthening its computer vision and machine learning capabilities,” said, Matthew Ison, Head of Sales, North America, VisionTrack. “As a result, VisionTrack was able to accelerate the development of innovative AI video telematics that automate management processes, data analysis, and incident detection.”

VisionTrack video-enabled devices are now recording on average 4.0 million driver miles every day. Furthermore, 35 billion data points a month are collected, as well as 63 million hours of video that would take over 12.5 lifetimes for the average individual to watch. By leveraging this information, the company is gaining a unique understanding of vehicle journeys, traffic levels and driver behavior, which is enabling VisionTrack to continually push the boundaries of what is possible and support data-driven problem solving.

Simon Marsh, CEO of VisionTrack: “Vehicle operators are increasingly targeting road safety, fleet risk and insurance improvements, so there are huge opportunities for us with our proven and industry-leading video telematics software. The functionality, scalability and capacity of the VisionTrack platform is making it possible for us to develop sophisticated AI technologies. This is keeping us at the forefront of the marketplace.”
