Volvo North America Deliveries Up 47 Percent in October
Swedish automaker AB Volvo (VOLVY.PK) Wednesday reported higher deliveries in the month of October, principally reflecting improved performance by Volvo and Mack brands and strong deliveries mainly in North America.
In the month, total truck deliveries, including brands Volvo, Mack, Renault Trucks, UD and Eicher, increased 7 percent to 23,515 vehicles from last year’s 21,981 vehicles. Total Volvo group deliveries grew 13 percent to 20,897 vehicles from last year’s 18,526 vehicles.
The company said the prior-year numbers have been restated for new accounting rules.
On a geographical basis, the company delivered 12 percent more trucks in Europe, with a 15 percent growth in Western Europe and 3 percent growth in Eastern Europe. In North America, total deliveries climbed 47 percent, but South America posted a 6 percent drop. Asia also posted increased deliveries in the month.
