Westport Unveils the 3.8L LPG/NG Engine

WestportWesport has announced the latest addition to its alternative fuel industrial engines, a 3.8L engine that operates on either liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or natural gas (NG).

Both of Westport’s two industrial engines can be used in a variety of off road and stationary industrial applications.

Capable of producing 100 kilowatts of power and 347 N-m of torque, the 3.8L engine offers high performance and low emissions using EPA and CARB-certified advanced fuel system technology.

Available for order in North America by March 2015, Westport’s industrial engines are suitable for multiple applications, including:

  • Oilfield applications such as artificial lift
  • Forklifts
  • Power generation
  • Construction vehicles, such as small front-end loaders and excavators
  • Municipal vehicles, such as street sweepers
  • Airport service vehicles, such as luggage and handling trucks
  • Irrigation systems

The 3.8L engine offers the Westport™ WP580 electronic control unit, in addition to injectors and regulators from Westport-owned companies, OMVL and EMER.
