Women In Trucking Association Announces Continued Gold Partnership with Walmart
Walmart has shown a long-standing commitment to WIT’s mission, gender diversity and creating opportunities for women across the transportation sector
The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) announced that Walmart has renewed its Gold Level Partnership for the fourteenth year, supporting the nonprofit organization as it attracts more women to the transportation industry and empowers them to be successful.
Since 2009, Walmart has supported WIT at the Gold Level, making them the longest-standing top-level sponsor. In addition to financial support and regularly sponsoring the Driver of the Year program, the company actively participates in the association. Walmart’s Ryan McDaniel, vice president of transportation, serves on the WIT board of directors.
“Walmart is proud to renew our partnership with Women in Trucking, a 14-year commitment that reflects our dedication to creating an environment of belonging,” said Ryan McDaniel, vice president, transportation at Walmart. “Together, we aim to drive positive change and ensure a more prosperous future for all that empowers women within the transportation industry at large.”

Founded in 2007, the Women In Trucking Association was established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments, and minimize the obstacles they face. Currently, the organization is a resource for more than 8,000 corporate and individual members Recent accomplishments include: releasing the 2023 WIT Index, the industry barometer to benchmark and measure the percentage of women who make up critical roles in transportation each year; advocating for same-gender training solutions during White House Listening Sessions; releasing the innagural WIT annual report publishing of a whitepaper series on safety and harassment issues faced by females; educating government officials and other stakeholders through truck ride-alongs via the WITney® Educational Trailer; and surpassing historical attendance records for the Accelerate! Conference and Exhibition.
