Three-minute automatic trailer loading and unloading is coming to the U.S. courtesy of Heico Companies, which has acquired of Ancra Systems.

The acquisition brings Ancra’s capabilities in the field of automatic truck (un)loading systems also known as ATLS.  The company is headquartered in Boxtel, Netherlands.

Here’s what’s special Loading and unloading a 53-foot trailer with palletized cargo can commonly take between 30 and 45 minutes using a forklift. By contrast, loading and unloading a trailer using an automated system an be accomplished in about three minutes.

What’s more, traditional forklift-based cargo movement within a warehouse or on a dock can pose safety risks. OSHA statistics indicate that there are roughly 85 forklift-related fatalities and 34,900 serious injuries each year. Ancra claims to significantly reduce the opportunity for human error to adversely affect cargo movement within a facility.
