Canadian Freight Volumes Slow Down in April

Canadian freightCanadian freight volume in April declined 12 percent month-over-month after March’s spike in loads, according to a new report from TransCore.

That said, year-over-year volumes continued to show growth, increasing 41 percent over April 2013. These volumes are the highest ever recorded for the month of April since TransCore Link Logistics started recording data.

Cross-border postings accounted for 70 percent of total load volumes.

ross-border loads originating in the United States destined for provinces within Canada were up by 23 percent year-over-year. Intra-Canada load volumes represented 24 percent of the total volumes for April and climbed by 31 percent compared to April 2013.
