driveCT mobile app features, new tractors and an extensive parking area reflect desire to address driver needs

Cargo Transporters, Inc, an asset-based regional and national carrier, today announced several investments aimed at enhancing driver comfort. Included are additional features to its driver app, new tractors and expansive parking facilities.

“Our main focus is on making life easier for our drivers by providing technologies and programs that enhance their comfort, efficiency and safety,” said Jerry Sigmon Jr., COO at Cargo Transporters. “With our driveCT mobile application we are streamlining workflow processes for drivers across our operation by putting information and capabilities at their fingertips. We’re also adding tractors with the latest safety systems and convenience items to our fleet, and we opened a new parking area for trucks and personal vehicles. All of these efforts are part of our corporate culture that has always embraced the importance of focusing on drivers.”

The driver-centric driveCT mobile app developed for Cargo Transporters by Eleos Technologies allows drivers to access information that would normally only be available on in-cab devices. The app, which initially provided Load Assignments, Load Information, Messaging Capabilities, Duty Status, Company News, and a Video Library, now has several new features, including:

  • Scanning tools that allow drivers to use smart devices to send copies of a Bill of Lading faster, easier and with higher quality than in-cab scanners
  • Email to reach operations, safety and HR departments with pictures of vehicle damage, parking and backing situations, and receipts
  • Driver referrals to send prospective drivers’ names and contact information, and to link new drivers to current drivers for referral bonuses

At its headquarters location, Cargo Transporters recently opened a new parking area for drivers. The paved and well-lit facility has 259 car, 174 pull through tractor-trailer and 128 tractor spots, all clearly marked similar to airport parking.

With an average tractor age of only two years, Cargo Transporters is continually adding new power units to its fleet. The latest additions are 2020 Freightliner New Cascadia units with an extensive number of safety technologies to protect drivers. Included are air disc brakes, ABS with automatic traction control, Detroit Assurance solutions with Active Brake Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Protection, as well as LED headlamps, heated mirrors, anti-spray mud flaps and cab mounted air actuated fifth wheel release systems. For a number of years as well, the carrier has been equipping its tractors with Lytx DriveCam in-cab video systems.

Cargo Transporters tractors are also specified with a number of driver amenities, including premium seats and sleepers with refrigerators, EpicVue satellite TV, Sirius/XM satellite radio and Bluetooth systems, power inverters, and shore power connections. The company also provides EZ-Pass toll transponders and Drivewyze weigh station bypass systems.

Earlier this year, Cargo Transporters introduced its Acres of Diamonds…Focus on Home Program. The initiative allows drivers to be closer to home when they finish a shift or have downtime in their schedules.
