Celadon Trucking and Celadon Logistics have joined with WRTV – Channel 6 in Indianapolis — for its annual toy drive as the official transportation and logistics company.  Celadon provided the necessary logistics to ensure the donated toys were collected and delivered on time to the campaign’s distribution center.

“When we considered which company to approach as our transportation sponsor to replace our previous partner, Celadon immediately came to mind,” said Jarrett Settles, Account Executive at WRTV. “Although it was their first year to participate, Celadon’s experience in transportation and logistics was clearly evident and they performed flawlessly as expected in collecting and transporting the toys.”

Since 2001, more than 100,000 children in Central Indiana have had happier holidays thanks to the RTV6 Toy Drive.  For this year’s Toy Drive, the RTV6 staff and news team with their cameras visited with local companies throughout the city that had collected toys. The campaign culminated with a day-long toy drive at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis on December 7.

“Our founder, Steve Russell, was a great philanthropist for organizations throughout Central Indiana.  Participating in this campaign was a great way to honor his legacy,” commented Joe Weigel, Director of Communications at Celadon. “We were thrilled to be part of this effort.  What a wonderful way to honor the spirit of holidays and giving huge smiles to kids throughout the Indianapolis area.”

The RTV6 Toy Drive recipients are selected through a referral system from local community service organizations in the central Indiana area. Families fill out a form with community agencies or receive teacher and principal referrals. Once approved, community service organizations distribute thousands of toys by Christmas time.
