Con-way Freight Driver Wins Canadian Pro Truck Driving Championships

Clary Ward, Canadian National Champion, Single-Single Class

Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), has  recognized Clary Ward, a veteran driver sales representative from the company’s Hamilton, Ontario service center, for becoming the Canadian National Champion, Single-Single class, at the 2013 Canadian National Professional Truck Driving Championships.

The company honored Ward for his winning performance in the Single-Single class with a special ceremony at its Hamilton service center. During the ceremony, he was presented with a personalized Con-way Freight tractor for his exclusive use over the next year, and a new, also personalized, Ford pickup truck for his achievement.

“Safety is the number one priority at Con-way Freight and Clary has demonstrated that commitment through this achievement,” said Tom Clark, senior vice president, operations, at Con-way Freight. “He goes the extra mile for safety and professionalism each day and is an example of excellence that all drivers throughout North America and in our company can aspire to.”

“Driving a truck is a big responsibility and it takes constant attention and awareness to stay safe on the road,” said Ward. “I work hard every day to be the safest driver out there and I’m proud to be recognized with a national title and by Con-way Freight.”

Ward joined Con-way Freight in 2004. Since then, he has participated in the national competition twice. This year, he was also the Ontario provincial winner in the Single-Single division. He has worked as a professional driver for more than 25 years.
