ESCO Delivers First Truck Body in North America

| September 10, 2013

ESCO Corporation has announced the delivery of a custom UltraHaul™ truck body to Cloud Peak Energy, a leading Powder River Basin coal mining company and longtime ESCO customer headquartered in Wyoming. This marks ESCO’s first mining truck body delivered in North America.

ESCOEngineers at ESCO, working closely with Cloud Peak Energy, enhanced an already proven design being sold in Latin America and Asia Pacific, creating a lighter body that utilizes a unique curved tail to increase the payload to 250 tons. Fabricators at ESCO’s supply and service site in Wright, Wyoming, built the first-of-its-kind truck body to meet Cloud Peak Energy’s stringent requirements.

“In this design, ESCO was able to understand and incorporate all five key features Cloud Peak needed to meet our production requirements,” said Mark Gilbertson, Director of Asset Management for Cloud Peak Energy.

ESCO is a long-established provider of dragline buckets and ground engaging tools to the Powder River Basin mining industry. Truck bodies are the latest product offering from ESCO in this region. ESCO and Cloud Peak Energy, one of the mining companies proposing to export U.S. coal through Pacific-Northwest ports, previously worked together to engineer a custom ESCO ProFill® dragline bucket used extensively at Cloud Peak Energy mine sites.
