Expansion of EV Charging Stations in California

NRG eVgoSimon Property Group, a leader in the global retail real estate industry, and NRG eVgo (ee-vee-go), a subsidiary of NRG Energy, have announce the opening of the first Freedom Station® in the City of Carlsbad, California – bring to 19 the total of new now open or under construction such sites.

The Freedom Station, located at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets®, features a 480-volt direct current (DC) fast charger that enables electric vehicle (EV) drivers, who are shopping and visiting, to recharge their vehicles in 30 minutes or less, as well as a traditional 240-volt alternating current (AC) charger that can charge virtually all electric vehicles.

Simon Property Group, as part of the company’s sustainability strategy, enables shoppers to plug in at 100 stations at 43 of Simon’s shopping destinations across the U.S.

Comprised of more than 90 stores and covering more than 288,000 square feet, the Carlsbad Premium Outlets are located north of San Diego, Calif., at 5620 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008. The Freedom Station is located in the parking lot between Starbucks and Rubio’s.

The Freedom Station in Carlsbad, part of a growing network of Freedom Station sites in California with 19 now open or under construction.  It is one of eight eVgo public charging stations located within 30 miles of San Diego, giving EV drivers new freedom and range confidence so they can maximize the use of their EVs in the greater San Diego area.
